The History Channel answered a question I raised a couple months ago. Well, better late than never. Apparently the Romans did indeed use only three 7 inch spikes when crucifying people. The third was placed in the back of both ankles, rather than the feet. I'm not entirely sure exactly how it was put through the back of the ankle, but there ya go. Aren't you glad you have me around to impart stuff like this?
