Whoa. Last week was busy. But lots of fun, to be sure. The week started off with a trip down to Mobile with the fam. Mama, my sister and I walked around the down and saw some sights while my dad hung out in the hotel room. Our hotel was really cool, it was two old townhouses that had been connected, added on to, and converted into a hotel. It's in the middle of downtown so we were able to walk everywhere. Quite beautiful. And we think one of the receptionists is a transexual. The whole point of this trip was to see the Dead Sea Scrolls which are on a loan to the Science museum until April. Don't ask me how Alabama got a hold of 'em. The exhibit was so amazing. Words fail me. The fact that these tiny (and some not so tiny) scraps survived is so utterly incredible. And the fact that the Biblical writings are almost identical to the current versions of the Torah and the Old Testament. I can sometines be a little cynical about the Bible, because of how it was shaped by church leaders, and how books were rejected and so on and so forth. But to realize that at least some parts are exactly the same gives me back some regard for the text. There was an additional room that was various versions of the Bible throughout the ages, as well as a large Torah from Prague that had been looted by Nazis. And! There were pages from the Guttenburg Bible!! It was so cool.
Then, when I got back, dramawench came for a visit! We had a really great time. She was able to see the shows we're working on, and we walked around downtown a bit. I actually had never bothered to get out and walk around the Capitol building any, so I'm really glad we got that in. Next time you come, A, we'll actually go into 1048! "As You Like It" opened. I always enjoy opening new shows. This is a really fun show to run, and I enjoy listening to it. Which is a good thing since it runs until July. I hope the other two shows prove as enjoyable.
