jumperkid(This gonna be a long one. You've been warned.)
The first dress rehearsal for Macbeth was the other day. Oh, it was fun. We have this remarkably flaky costume designer. She basically made the renderings and then forgot about oh, the costume plot. She didn't know what people were supposed to wear when which is HER JOB. And, rather than fix this problem the day of first dress she went shopping for the other show she's designing. The wardrobe crew had some words for her. Words that I won't repeat here because they're way too inflammatory.
We stumbled through though, and everybody looked just fantastic. The official inspiration for the feel of the wigs are Braveheart and Lord of the Rings. Duncan looks exactly like Denethor. I keep expecting him to pull a Palantir out of his pocket and wrestle with Sauron or grab one of the torches, light himself on fire and jump off the edge of the stage. However, everybody really looks like seventies porn stars or extras from Spinal Tap. Which works too. We have three girls who sort of fill out the armies in a few places and they REALLY look like seventies porn stars, especially during their fittings, 'cause they were all wearing frilly girly shirts with mullets and mustaches.
Now, I help with a few changes, but mostly my job is to wander around smearing blood on people. We have two different kinds of blood that we use, blood straight from the bottle and blood that's been mixed with Clean Dirt to make it a little thicker and a slightly darker color. My co-worker and I labeled them "Pureblood" and "Mudblood," but no one has noticed yet, so we're the only ones who laugh about it. It's lots of fun and incredibly messy. I love it, even though I keep finding blood that I've missed when I was washing my hands. And the blood under my fingernails is just never gonna come out.
Ok, I gotta go get ready to go back a do it some more. The next enstallment will be: "L; The Clueless Actor from Hell"
