Adventures in Cooking
Dec. 9th, 2003 10:16 pmWell, I guess "adventures" is slightly too strong a word, but I'm nothing if not hyperbolic. I don't really cook. It's not so much that I CAN'T, it's more that I don't. I REALLY need instructions. Instructions are v. important to me. So many people tell me, "Oh, just throw in some stuff." No, no, no. It doesn't work that way. Tell me exactly what to put in, when and how. And I mean, exactly. Anyway, I've decided that man cannot live on EasyMac alone, and perhaps I should branch out a little, so that should I ever become a grown-up, I can cook for all the other grown-ups. Like grown-ups do. A cooking-prone friend recommended that I pick a recipe then invite people over. Theoretically this makes the cooking more fun. It certainly forces one to actually cook and not just plan to cook. So, yesterday I cooked dinner for my flatmates and one of my co-workers and her boyfriend. The actual cooking was rather terrifying. But I figured a few things out in the process, and I didn't blow anything up. Which I feel is a good sign. And everyone agreed that the dish was successful. (Oh, I made a gouda and wine sauce from a vegetarian cookbook that bookwench gave me. Thanks, P!) All in all, other than being a little scary, I think it went quite well. I certainly feel more inclined to try some other recipes.
I should also mention that in prepering for the cooking I had to buy everything on the ingredients list. As in, we didn't have flour. Or milk. Or other such supposedly basic ingredients. Yeah, the flatmates don't cook much either. But hey, now we have flour!

Date: 2003-12-11 09:23 am (UTC)Kristina Sutton is Lucy
Amelia is Girl Vixen (Jim is going to have to direct her to do some sexy stuff)
Amanda is matron vixen
Gay is playwright and costume designer (I really thought Christine would come out of retirement for that one).
Cliff is in it, Eddie Rector, Vinnie Farrel... Seems that Seth is becoming the next Boone, he's ME, Crew chief and master fly op. Boone is designing the lights. So, yeah, thats a run down of what I remember.
